Our CVG mushroom substrate is a prepared blend of coco coir, vermiculite, and gypsum packaged in a convenient 5 lb grow bag. Boise Mushroom Company prepares this substrate for mushroom cultivators who want to reduce the time and equipment required to mix and prepare bulk substrate themselves.
CVG is commonly used as a bulk substrate in mushroom cultivation. Coco coir forms the primary base of the mixture, while vermiculite helps the substrate retain moisture. Gypsum completes the simple three-part blend. Together, these materials create a practical substrate that is easy to handle and distribute during the cultivation process.

Using CVG Mushroom Substrate
Use the prepared substrate with suitable colonized grain spawn according to the requirements of the mushroom species you are cultivating. First, prepare a clean working area. Next, combine the appropriate amount of colonized grain spawn with the substrate. Then distribute the spawn evenly throughout the material according to your preferred cultivation method.
Because mushroom species have different substrate requirements, CVG may not be appropriate for every variety. For species that require supplemented hardwood or another specialized substrate, choose a substrate formulated for that particular mushroom.
